On police vehicles there is a feature called 'Running Lock'
This means when the police attend an RTC they don't have to switch the engine off, as the engine being off, the emergency beacons would run down the vehicle's battery
So what if some crim decides to nick the police vehicle?
Pressing a foot peddle turns off the engine & locks it off
