  • Hey Hey 16k

Some of you may or may not have seen this before, but I thought it was particularly relevant to the tech section.

Prepare for some serious nostalgia Oh, and the song to be stuck in your head for ages

I was never part of the Amstrad/Atari thing (until I bought my 1995 Stfm),but can understand the whole attraction.i have every copy of Retro gamer mag, despite only ever buying a Gameboy,NES,Master System,Atari STFM,PSP.
Never bought a Playstation or owned an Amstrad. but I did work for a computer place in the late 80's and saw all the software and hardware that was around at the time.I can't say I was impressed enough to buy one as they were so expensive at the time.
and as the song says..16k..unbelievable what they did with so little in those days.todays games may look fantastic (and I still play things like Halflife, etc) but most don't have gameplay.something that simple programmes like pacman, robotron, etc had in spades.
Last game I played on the PSP (now sold) was James Bond: from Russia with love. strange gameplay,a lot of randomness(I'd just shoot and run, most of the time).a lot of thought was put into the look and style of the game, but gameplay or the reason to wanna beat it was not there at all.
whereas SuperMarioLand on the gameboy had me hooked to the end.
                classic challenge and great play.
