Initially we had civil partnerships, which to all intents & purposes constituted 'marriage'

I think we were equal before. We could all marry someone of the opposite sex (e.g. Tom Robinson), and none of us could marry someone of the same sex.

'Lefties Get Bloody Tiresome' or (to vary the order a little) 'Lumping Groups Together Backfires'.

In the early to mid 80s there was an interesting phenomenon in west London, especially around the Notting Hill, Westbourne Grove and Bayswater area of pubs that attracted a parallel clientele of Rastafarians and gay men. There was not much socialising between the two groups but there was tolerance and some bonding over music.

Marc Almond also hates 'the LGBT thing'. I did say great minds think alike.

Most gay men don't identify at all with LGBT. It's a lesbian-feminist cult. For me the label conjures up images of left-wing 'gender-neutral' robots (with recorded female voices to be PC) waving rainbow flags and chanting meaningless slogans.

That makes me think of a spoof 1970s scientist-fi title: 'Do Female Androids Smell of Fish?'
J.G. Ballard perhaps, or Philip K. Dick?

The LGBT acronym is turbo-charged PC.

It’s a 1970s slogan I think. It means what it says- a man is a man whatever his orientation. I like it, but I can’t be doing with LGBT: I find it degrading personally and I don’t like the way it lumps together groups of people who have nothing in common. Most people don’t even know what it stands for: Let’s Go Bananas Together? Lettuce, Garlic, Bacon & Tomato?
    Pleeeeaaase!
