Re: London films 40's to 70's
I can highly recommend Smashing Time (1967)
Definitely one of my favourite London films.
It used to be shown on TV lots, but it hasn't been shown in the UK for a long time.

Re: London films 40's to 70's
Hi Kelvin,
TV series include 'The Sweeney' - largely West London based.
Films I'd recommend - 'A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square' (1979) - completely set in London - some great street scenes. 'Callan' - Some interesting filming around Charing Cross. 'The Ladykillers' - that's the classic 1955 Ealing Films version, largely set in the St. Pancras / King's Cross area. 'Babylon' (1980) - O.K. not strictly the '40s to '70s, but just outside, and some good street scenes."We're the Sweeney son, and we haven't had any dinner!"

Re: London films 40's to 70's
The film 'S.W.A.L.K.' from 1971 starring Jack Wild and Mark Lester as two young school boys was filmed in and around London. Locations included Hammersmith, Lambeth, Brompton and Nunhead with post production at Twickenham studios. A great cast also included Tracy Hyde, Keith Barron, Roy Kinnear and Sheila Steafel. The film was also known as 'Melody' in some foreign markets. The sound track was mainly pre disco BEE GEES with a bit of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
