I've made two lists on the Horror Film Wiki. One is in regards to every horror film to top the box office in the United States, since the inaugural film (The Monster) achieved this feat back in 1925. The other, is a list of top ten films, based on how you would compose the various Variety records into a chart format. I've also included all of the double features.
For example, in the 1950s, it was common for films to be shown as part of a double bill. Although some were marketed as a double feature, meaning they were packaged together.
As far as I'm aware, no true weekend box office existed before 1982, so I've taken films released before 1982 from the top 50 grossing films (weekly) charts that started in April of 1969. Before that, the box office reports were just reports from key cities, and therefore not really written as a chart. Also, these charts were samples, meaning a film could have earned more money than what was advertised.

And I'm in the process of actually purchasing all of these films!Tags: None
