This'll cheer ye up.
Yesterday, over here, a lorryload of 5000+ hens overturned ( driver unhurt, thankfully ) on the way to the slaughterhouse. Once word got round, farmers or anyone with enough outdoor space came for miles around to load up cars, trailers etc. to take about half of them to good homes. Tomorrow there'll be a trawl of surrounding fields, hills, woods, etc by more hen fans to rescue & rehome any that survive the cold, hunger, foxes or dogs.
