But what different ways were there for improving the strength of your conker?
Mine was coating it with varnish.

painting a big marble brown was good

soaking em in vinegar overnight and then roasting them in the oven on a low temparature

We played a variation of conkers using pencils instead of horse chestnuts being that the latter was a bit hard to come by out here.
