It's interesting you should raise this question, in a script for a short film I wrote a girl came up with a theory on the origins of the word 'shampoo'. It was that some people had dirty hair like poo and so they invented a liquid that would make a sham out of the poo."The answer to the ultimate question, of life, the universe and everything is .....42"

The hindi word " Champo" was an all over body wash and massage. Maybe it was pronounced shampoo?Comment
