This was a British film. The kidnapping took place in Shropshire in 1975 and the drainage shaft where Whittle was held and died was in Staffordshire, the county where I live.

He held her in an underground drainage shaft and the police found her hanging by a wire noose after she had either fell from or had been pushed off a ledge. Neilson died while still serving his whole-life tariff in 2011.

Think of a very recent superhero movie that had a type of animal and a colour in its title and that is also the title of the film I am referring to.

OK, which classic British film about clashes with authority was partly filmed in black & white due to running out of money for colour film?
