1. John Bryans. He played A.J. Stoker...subtle or what?

2. It was based on a short story by Robert Bloch, author of Psycho. Think it was published in Weird Tales, though not certain of that.

3. It bears the likeness of a girl they both were smitten with many years before.

4. The great Peter Cushing.

5. I think he was unavailable due to other commitments.

The House that Dripped Blood is a great title, but I don't think the segments quite live up to it. For me, the highlight is Sweets to the Sweet. I think it was an error to end with The Cloak, a rather humourous tale, but since the detective was investigating the disappearance of Paul Henderson, it had to be the last.

Trivia: Carleton Hobbs, who played the doctor in Sweets to the Sweet, was Sherlock Holmes on the radio for many years for the BBC.

I'm puzzled about Cushing. Who was it who played Grayson?

Francis was contracted to direct something else--can't remember exactly what, but it fell through in the end.

In my opinion, humourous segments should be relegated to the middle of a film, or better yet, excised altogether.

Joss Ackland played Grayson. A good actor who did not get enuff work imho.

I will accept the Freddie Francis one. It was an American film that just happened to fall thru. A big blow for his career he would have felt.
