    Who Am I?

    Which Carry-On star was held at a POW camp during WW2 and took part in providing cover for escape tunnel digging, which was later dramatised in the film The Wooden Horse?

    Born in Watford in 1927 I began my theatrical career in my teens at the Watford Amateur Dramatic Society playing small comic roles. During the Second World War I served in the Royal Navy and in 1945 I used my demobilisation gratuity to enter show-business as a manager of seaside shows around Britain.

    The episode is entitled Suffer Little Children, and I suppose it is actually a docu-drama, concentrating on Dyer's trial--she was a truly loathsome creature and richly deserved her end imo. I recommend the other episodes in the Ladykillers series.
