Who remembers Zokko? this was a Children's television programme from the late 1960's and early 70's that was named after it's presenter - a talking pinball machine. It was a kind of robot/pinball machine. It would play the ball and then would say 'Zokkoooooooo.....' and would introduce whatever came next. It had a mix of animations, film clips, magic and narrated cartoons. Apart from some highlights, only one complete episode remains in the BBC's archives.

Yes. IT was my favourite program for a while. What was the attraction in having a machine for a presenter rather than a person? In fact, it made sense to a little kid: machines are perfect, aren't they? They did the same thing years later in about 1984 when CH4 first started, with Max Headroom. The thing is, Zocko was not ironic: it was serious.

I remember this! I watched it in black and white on an old Murphy TV (Long gone, it was a lovely little TV, small screen with a radio integrated in the top with a brass coloured v shaped indoor aerial)) Zokko looked like a pinball machine, I sat transfixed on saturday mornings, and have a memory of a Beatles music film being played.

I would so like to see some clips and images.
