Musician, born in 1957 in South Glamorgan, Wales, raised by his parents in Tamworth, UK. Whilst attending college in Liverpool during the 70's, Julian met like minded musicians including Ian McCulloch, Pete Burns and Pete Wylie, they went onto form the band 'The Teardrop Explodes' with the exclusion of Ian McCulloch who went onto commercial success with 'Echo & the Bunnymen'. The band were thought to be one of the most influential bands of the late 70's with a volatile mix of neo-psychedelic rock and electro-pop. The bands popularity grew, they had released 3 albums but Cope's love of hallucinogenic drugs contributed to the band splitting in late 1982. In 1984, Julian released his solo album "World, Shut Your Mouth", shortly followed by the album 'Fried' which featured the artist in a turtle shell, then 'Saint Julian'. The single, "World, Shut Your Mouth" became Julian's biggest hit, reaching the UK Top 20 in 1986. Cope was also the founding member of the both groups 'Queen Elizabeth' and 'Brain Donor'. The artist has written two autobiographical books: 'Head On' and 'Repossessed', along with four non-fictional books: 1996 - 'Krautrocksampler' - this covers the German Krautrock musical movement 1998 - 'The Modern Antiquarian' - this detailed stone circles and other ancient monuments of prehistoric Britain 2004 - 'The Megalithic European' - the study of European megalithic sites 2007 - 'Japrocksampler' - subtitled 'How the post war Japanese blew their minds on rock and roll
