  • Roy Orbison

Am I so old that no one else remembers Roy?He was a big star in the 1960's 70's and 80's (with the Travelling Wilburies)Ok so it was 1962 when I travelled from Newcastle to Leeds on weekends with a friend who went on to Doncaster. Along with the rest of the crew we would stop at the service station at Leeming Bar and put 'Blue Bayou' on the juke box late on Sunday evenings on the way home.

Not at all. I was 12 when he brought out 'You Got It' in 1989 and remember it playing on the radio of our coach on a school trip. I loved it - still do, but had to secretly like it at the time.

Roy Orbison, now that Guy had Talent, My Granny used to play him all the time, I suppose thats why I liked His Music
Plus it always reminds me of My Gran
Always remember he was making a comeback and His songs were Brilliant, then He passed away
      Never be another like Him

I saw The Big O at Oxford many years ago, i was about 12 or 13, i went with Mum as Dad couldn't go, only went so she could go, didn't fancy it on her own. Came out a life long fan.

The man had a lot of heartache in his life but gave us wonderful wonderful music for us to enjoy for ever.

A pure genius, simple as that

One of the best voices in music, so powerful and smooth, all wrapped up in tempered emotion.

he did not need a reality show like x factor to get his break.

He did do In Dreams though, which is possibly one of the finest songs ever crafted.

On December 6, 1988, he spent the day flying model airplanes with his sons. After having dinner at his mother's home in Tennessee, Roy died of a heart attack at 52.
