Ultravox had been around for a while and had released a couple of albums before Midge Ure joined them in 1979. In the early 80's 'Vienna' was in the charts for weeks and weeks but it only got to number two. Midge Ure was the 'other' man behind Band Aid with Bob Geldof.

I think Ultravox were a far better band before the arrival of Midge Ure, although the album 'Vienna' was decent enough, they went downhill rapidly afterwards IMHO. I prefer them with John Foxx and with the ! .
