Teabag shoes

These were around circa 1980 and were made of a mesh like fabric and were usually lace up pumps although other styles could be found. They came in an array of colours and looked good with skinny jeans with a brightly coloured belt and a tucked-in fruits of the Loom sweatshirt!

I was at our local fair in 1980. and my ultra fashion conscious friend was wearing these shoes with a baseball shirt (remember these?) and white skin tight jeans - she tiptoed her way through the puddles of the fairground only to land in a mega deep one, the water splashed up and the callow youth that we were with shouted out "Tetley let the flavour flood out!" (Popular Tetley ad at this time)

He didn't get a date......
