G.I Joe dolls have been produced by Hasbro since the early 1960s. They were created after the licensing agent, Stan Weston cottoned on to the commercial success of Barbie. The first line of G.I Joes had a figure for each of the four U.S Armed Forces including soldiers for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. G.I Joe officially stands for "Government Issue Joe". Iremember back in the mid 1970s getting the GI Joe with the Kung Fu grip with the beard and the hair that felt real. It was 12 inches or a little taller.I played with that thing till his arm fell off.
