Alphie was a pre-school talking robot from Playskool. Alphie the Learning Robot came with reversible overlay game cards to give different games when placed on Alphie's chest.Gameboards for Alphie included Alphie Explores Mars, Space Pirates, Robot Land and Rhyming star whilst the cards were; Robot Land, Space Pirates, Rhyming Star, Same Number, Word Match, Word Picture Mat, Number and Objects, Same Ending Sounds, Subtraction, Addition and Same Shapes.Might not sound all that exciting but I think a 1980s toddler might disagree!Alphie was the first electronic toy for preschoolers. First released in the late 1970s he was the first in a long line of Playskool high-tech toys.Later on a second edition came out called Alphie II. Made of white plastic, Alphie had a smiling red face and green, red and yellow buttons around his stomach. In the centre a card could be slotted in and the game play would change accordingly.
