    Welsh singer, guitarist and record producer was born in April 1944. During the 60's, Dave Edmunds was a member of the '99ers' the 'Heartbeats', 'The Raiders', the 'Image' then 'The Human Beans'. The core members of Human Beans formed a new band in 1968 under the new name of 'Love Sculpture' and produced a Top 5 UK hit called "Sabre Dance" which was given enthusiastic attention by DJ John Peel.In 1970, Dave Edmunds went solo and reached no. 1 in the UK Christmas Single Charts with "I Hear You Knocking", It also reached no. 4 in the U.S. Charts.

    Another class act. Some of his other songs when he teamed up with Nick Lowe in the late 70s were great, such as 'Girls Talk' and Lowe's 'Cruel To Be Kind' which Edmunds co-wrote and produced. 'Deborah' was pure Buddy Holly rock n' roll, stonking little two minute song.

    The first time I heard 'I Hear You Knocking' was part of the Woodpecker cider ad, which featured new lyrics such as 'get rid of ugly Stain(e)s', with film of tower blocks in Staines being blown up.
