Card-based games did include "Penalty",

a football game and "Top Dividend", a football pools game.

A personal favourite, for it's odd mechanics, remains
"Jailbreak"

Re: Card games
My school mate used to play a game called "Skeeta" with his mam and dad and taught me how to play. It was great game but unfortunately I have forgotten how to play. I know it involved 2 packs of cards and was similiar to rummy. If anybody else knows this game I would very much appreciate it if they could furnish me with the rules so I can play it again. Cheers.

Re: Card games
My parents once got a few sets of cards printed to play certain games, such as Beggar My Neighbour, Donkey & Old Maid.

Re: Card games
I loved playing happy families and old maid with my mum and sister when I was little. Especially as my sister couldn't read and made up amusing names for the families.

Re: Card games
My abiding memory of playing cards with my family is sitting in a tent in a field somewhere in bucketing rain enjoying a typical British summer holiday.
