Re: Computer game magazine scans.
Mean Machines would often review import games, sometimes many months before they got a release in the PAL region. I haven't read enough of Nintendo Magazine System to know if they kept on reviewing imports after they got officially endorsed by Nintendo. Nintendo dont like us in the PAL region playing imports and have always been snide with their regional lock out chips. I have an American SNES where I can play my SNES games in their 60Hz, full speed, full screen glory. I recently discovered that you can play Japanese Super Famicom games on the American SNES without an adapter. The only thing stopping this is 2 plastic tabs in the cartridge slot of the US SNES. Last week my Nintendo screwdrivers arrived through the post. Nintendo being Nintendo don't want you opening the system you paid hundreds of pounds for so they use special screws in their consoles.. I was able to open it up and break off the tabs with a pair of pliers. Now my Japanese games fit perfectly. I can play my Jap SF2 Turbo, Axelay and Super Ghouls n Ghosts without the need for my Universal Adapter. Still need it for all my UK PAL games though.Last edited by trip2themoon; 24-12-2016, 05:22.
