Another quest to remember an old game...

Hi all! I'm new to this forum, but I have a question for you:

I remember back about 10-11 years ago playing a game in my elementary school's computer lab a monochrome game. It had something to do with an adventurer having to roam around a country side, with a castle to the north of the characters starting point, a small village south, and a lot of enemies close by.

It was played on old Apple computers, once i got done with the assignment, and sometimes before

I don't remember much else...

This is one of the games we used to play at school - it has been released a number of times so there is more than one version - does it ring any bells?

Not quite, but thanks for trying!

The game I'm trying to remember was black and white, with no color in it. I don't know when it was made. All I remember was playing it in elementary school, which could mean the game is much older than 10-11 years old.

If I remember correctly, the adventurer was wearing black pants with a shirt/vest on? He had black hair, and didn't move when he walked. It was one of those things where moving meant shifting to the next tile, without frames of walking.

I don't remember much else, or this would be easier

From the description, possibly The Black Cauldron but with you having a monochrome monitor. Indeed when I first played it myself it was all orange ;-)
