Re: Garbage Pail Kids - trading cards

yes i remember garbage pail kids.
they had slightly more gross names hence the fact theyhave garbage in their names.

I can remember me and the older brother having them we had loads between us.
not sure what happened to them got lost or thrown out acidently.

but they where very well made for sure.

I collected these, although with the benefit of adult hindsight they seem like such a crude, ugly, money spinning rip off of the Cabbage Patch Kids and they were bad enough!

I remember the gum was dark pink and talcy and not very nice, although I still chewed it.

To get us to part with even more pennies, I remember there were actually two stickers for each Garbage Pail Kid. The picture was the same but the name was different. These were all out at the same time, in the same packets. So lazy of the company to do this.

I had loads and loads of them. I never ever peeled one. I never had a sticker album (or knew if they existed - they certainly weren't in my local shop where I'd buy the cards). I kept mine in stacks in empty flip top Fererro Rocher boxes (we used to use those as pencil cases in school !)
Anyway, my collection was in mint condition and I kept them up safely for years. I used to hope they'd be worth money one day.
When my parents were moving house, they had a car boot sale and said that my stickers sold faster than any of their belongings, ''went like hot cakes''. I was a bit miffed as I hadn't put my stickers in the pile of stuff to be sold !

I still have a load of the stickers stuck up on the wardrobe in my old bedroom at my folk's house.I remember there was some controversy here in Ireland at the time over them.A father bought them for his young kids thinking they were innocent fun and was outraged when he saw the stickers in particular one called "Itchy Mitch" which had a baby tearing the skin off his back with a backscratcher. There was a story in one of the tabloids calling for them to be banned.
