  • Wide White tyre bikes - for kids

    I remember having kids 'round our way riding little bikes with WIDE white tyres......don't know what they were called and haven't seen a pic...do you remember ?

    OK a memory jogger this is the closest I can find - but it is not the one I remember

      I remember a couple of these bikes around. They seemed to be ridden mostly by girls. I did have a ride on one of these bikes once, my cousin's bike. What I remember most is that they were quite easy to handle, and very easy to ride up moderate gradients. They seemed to be around for a while, then vanish. They were possibly made by Raleigh.
      Who cared about rules when you were young?

        Are you referring to an early balance bike from the 1970s that never caught on in Britain? I have seen a photo of it some time ago and it definitely had wide white tyres. It could have been German or Scandinavian.
