They were about mid 80`s, alittle bit bigger than a ciggy packet. Took 1 AA battery and had a switch on the top of them which I think was for 2 wheel drive. Also came in different designs, mate had the A Team van one. Most of the time we made them do jumps or lean them on 2 wheels and raced them to see which one would fall over first. The wheels had sticky out bits so they could drive on 2 wheels.

Yeah they're Rough Riders, they're mentioned here.
I had the Knight Rider one.
Just be careful if googling "Rough Rider toys" though, especially if at work!
