Re: Japanese Water Flowers made of paper
I remember the flowers in the shells. Can't remember now where they came from but didn't they emerge from the shell attached to a piece of line so they floated?.Long time ago.I bet my niece would love to see these flowers emerge from the shells.

Re: Japanese Water Flowers made of paper
I spent yesterday in chinatown (London) being looked at as though I were insane asking for those - guess they're an artifact of my childhood (in San Francisco). I'd LOVE them - how much do you want for them??? Erica

Re: Japanese Water Flowers made of paper
I just joined because I was looking for these too. The ones we used to get came in a little paper packet and looked a bit like the round ones in lli173's picture above. I remember them being two colours each, like red and yellow and black and white.

Re: Japanese Water Flowers made of paper
I have also been searching for these and after reading this thread and realising they are Japanese, I think I may have found them! Try the www.etsy.com They've sold out at the moment but worth a try in the future!

Welcome to Bobbys vintage Fun & Dime! For your consideration is a fantastic Artificial Water Flower Wonder Shell novelty. These were produced in Japan in the 1950s. This is unused and sources from a warehouse buyout of old, uncirculated store stock. Please understand that we can not guarantee thatTheir light of pocket torch, of signal flare,
Licks at the edge of unsuspected places,
While others scan, under an arc-lamp's glare,
Nursery, kitchen sink, or their own faces.
