  • Lost toy: when google doesn't help.

    This would be '83-'85.
A compact toy train set all in one piece. (3ft x 14in?) Small scale American style trains. Possibly four of them. The were made to move by having the track vibrate under them, which reacted against directional bristles under the train.

Googling for "vibrating toy", however carefully you word it, is problematical.

I have several toys and games that use this vibration-movement idea, from the classic Escalado, through hand-held games with a car, train and space-ship, to two early triang minic train sets on that principle, a Chad Valley car race game, and a sadly damaged fairly modern micro-cars version.
Additionally, some waterline ships by Tente (Lego variant) which had the motor on board, causing the vessel to drift slowly across a smooth level surface.

But this once-seen train set is missing from my collection of, err, vibrating toys...
Any ideas? Or for other toys or games that would fit this "classification"?
    Cheers!
