Re: Bronx cheer anyone?
I had a whoopee cushion just like the one in the link in the first post. I was always bemused by the weird, rubbish drawing of that bloke with the funny feet and the 'bronx cheer'. I'd never even heard of The Bronx at that point, never mind a bronx cheer.

I've heard the phrase used in tv sitcoms from the 60s and 80s. and by sports commentators at times. i think the "bronx cheer" is the same thing as giving someone a "raspberry"?
"no man is a failure, who has friends."

Bronx cheer anyone?
In today's article on Whoopee Cushions http://www.doyouremember.co.uk/memory/whoopee-cushion I found myself asking if a Bronx Cheer was a real slang phrase or a poor Chinese translation of some other phrase. I've wondered about this for years and would be interested to hear what other people think.Tags: None
