The Conversation is a good film, 70's paranoia at its best. Hackman plays a similar character in Enemy of the State, possibly an unofficial continuation of the same character.

fantastic actor he was superb in pretty much any film he was in.

like in the superman films he could be quite nasty but also rather funny.
he was also superb in the poseidon adventure who courageous he was sacrificing himself by turning a wheel which knoced off the steam i think it was so the others could escape.

I heard recently he was worried that being in superman as lex luthor might effect his career as a serious actor.

He was fab in the poseidon adventure what a super film.

Excellent actor who gave 100% in everything he did. A powerful presence and I personally think his best period was in the 1970s.

I always get his name confused with Gene Wilder.

Gene Hackman also nearly directed Silence Of The Lambs. He was rumoured to be in line for the Lecter role, either that or Scott Glenn's FBI veteran.

I love Gene Hackman in Narrow Margin, one of my fave films.
I don't think I've watched him in anything else.
