I was racking my brains there to think of who you were on about op...I'm absolutely amazed at Danny coming up with the right guy so quickly. Fair play Danny, you must have paranormal powers.

Sounds like Hardy Kruger he was in the original 'flight of the phoenix' great film, great actor.
Apparently he went to an Adolph Hitler school.

I also recognised the description fitting Derren Nesbitt (whom I also remember got in trouble for beating up his wife - typecast?) which is the correct spelling, ie. not Darren!

Then I also remembered the young actor in Hannibal, leading the elephant over the mountain, no curly hair but the character type, not to mention the poet Dylan Thomas!

He started out acting in the '50s and usually played villains, starring as underworld gang boss Bertie Hoyle in the '63 film 'The Informers' opposite Nigel Patrick and Margaret Whiting. He had a similar role in a 1972 Dick Emery comedy.
