Maybe I was too young to get the point of this PIF but I remember it was set in the North of England and appeared to be a builder's yard. A bloke was reversing a lorry into the yard and one of the workers was assisting him by shouting out instructions in Franglais (very bad French!!). The film finished with the Brummy (??) driver saying to the bloke assisting him "Are there many of you French fellows in Sheffield?"....and the bloke looks right embarrassed. Can anybody enlighten me on the whole point of this PIF from the mid-70's?? No doubt it's on YouTube....but I could be wrong!!

Re: A lorry reversing into a yard...?? What was the point???...PIF
The PIF was about reversing large lorries into confined spaces safely by using a guide giving clear directions. The guide assumed the driver was French because of the Numberplate and markings on the lorry. The PIF is not on Youtube but when I did my LGV test a few years ago our instructor used to show it to us as a way to break the ice. Film says it was made in 1977 if that's any help
