I am trying to remember an ITV advert from the late 1970s, I think, in which a family (Northern?) are gathered around the dinner table and the mother exclaims "Ooh, you cheeky monkey!" to her son (or one of her sons?). I think it was an advert for some kind of convenience food. Does anyone remember? I also seem to recall mimicking that line in around 1979 which is why I date it to the late seventies.

I am certain that the "cheeky monkey" phrase has been used in quite a few adverts over the years - I obviously would not remember the advert that you are referring to, but I am getting a de ja vu feel with regards to that being mentioned in adverts.I've everything I need to keep me satisfied

Yes, I think the phrase been mentioned in more recent adverts. The one I'm thinking of was, I am pretty sure, to do with 'convenience' foods: possibly one of the Findus products that were always being advertised at that time.Originally posted by George 1978 View PostI am certain that the "cheeky monkey" phrase has been used in quite a few adverts over the years - I obviously would not remember the advert that you are referring to, but I am getting a de ja vu feel with regards to that being mentioned in adverts.

I know cheeky monkey was also used in a PG Tips ad when they used real chimpanzees, but that was mid 80s.
