Anyone remember a brief spell when John Cooper Clark appeared in the Sugar Puffs ads? I think the Honey Monster was also still in there, but it was quite surreal seeing The Bard Of Salford in a cereal ad. (Although in 1977 who'd ever have guessed Johnny Rotten would end up advertising butter on telly?)

Re: Sugar Puffs
Yes, think there are still a few JCC ads on YouTube.
I still go and see the old fella when he's in town, still very funny

Re: Sugar Puffs
Thanks for that - I did so love him. Saw him a few times in my student days, and I've got a copy of his book "Ten Years In An Open Necked Shirt" - it's got all the great poems in it. My favourites are Kung Fu International and A Love Story In Reverse.

Re: Sugar Puffs
Just started thinking about Sugar Puffs while I was reading this thread in general and a couple of things popped into my head.
Red Dwarf where he eats Sugar Puff sandwiches ( been there -done that )
Jeremy the bear - theres a thread about him in DYR somewhere
The Dr Who film that I saw as a little schoolboy in sixties (with Peter Cushing as the timelord ) - every time it showed them out in the city they were either walking past posters for Sugar Puffs or going past shops with adverts for Sugar Puffs in the shop windows - very noticable product placement

Re: Sugar Puffs
Don't recall those exactly, but I've asked on here before about a breakfast cereal I can remember from the early 70's which was either Strawberry or Raspberry flavour. Although I recall the texture being crunchy, not like Sugar Puffs. These were small red crunch balls.. lovely as I recall, but can't find anything about them

This is my first post here on DYR and glad to have found both the forums and the Sugar Puffs thread!!! I remember around 1973 that Sugar Puffs introduced a variety which consisted of normal Sugar Puffs but with the little strawberry balls mixed in. They were crunchy (the strawberry balls) but soon turned soggy and coloured the milk pink! As I recall, they weren't around for very long at all and I remember my mum telling me that the local shopkeeper had said they were withdrawn through lack of popularity.
Cheers

Re: Sugar Puffs
I remember in the hot summer of 1976,a kid i was hanging around with had the brand new t shirts that had brilliant clear and colourful pictures on,i think they were polyester? Anyway, they were new on the scene and the latest craze. The boy also ate sugar puffs, which were new to me.I started to watch the adverts, and eventually began pleading with my mum to get me some sugar puffs. It was one of the best buys of my childhood,as i still remember eating sugar puffs and realizing my pee smelt like sugar puffs aswell, all on beautiful, warm sunny days.I think,i also use to watch The White Horses and The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe around the same time too.Sugar Puffs remind me of those wonderful sunny 1976 days.

Re: Sugar Puffs
You gotta check this out.
http://www.honeymonster.co.uk/classic-ads/
It has several Sugar Puffs ads from the past, the early Honey Monster looks rather creepy to me than the present one.
