  • John Carpenter

ITV4 showing a season of films from his hey-day. The effects maybe a little ropey by todays standards but the Thing and Escape from NY still great viewing

Lost count of the times I've seen the Thing, but still watch it every time it's on.

While everybody remembers him for Halloween, I also know him for performing his own movie scores.

JC's Vamps is also the coolest cult fang movie ever. SynchPedro86 yes he performed most of the sound tracks on his early movies, heavy synths throughout.

                Re: John Carpenter

I am a big John Carpenter fan.

I don't think he's ever done a bad movie (except of course for Ghosts of Mars, but we don't talk about that).

Particular favourites (that haven't been mentioned yet because everyone loves the thing) include:

Big Trouble in Little China (Kurt Russel again camping it up)
In the Mouth of Madness (Sam Neill in some seriously weird Lovecraftian style horror)
They Live (big muscle maries having the longest single screen punch up ever. Oh and a load of space aliens with Rolexes)
Prince of Darkness (nothing to be said really)
                Dark Star (hilarious)

And of course the "not the remake of Escape from New York at all", Escape from LA
