Anyone remember this SciFi horror movie

Been trying to track down a movie I saw possibly 2007 - 2015? Sci-fi Horror Set in an American city: The story, as far as I remember, was these college kids doing stuff on a computer or something that has to do with
a website? What they start to notice is that the population/people start disappearing, even some from their group. Still, when someone asks where "Julie is" frinstance, nobody knows who Julie is or has any recollection who they are... every so often the camera shows you the outside and at the beginning, the city is bustling with people. Still, as it goes further into the movie, the numbers start to dwindle,
the mood of the movie is... hard to describe, gray? In the end it is something to do with the website (But I could be wrong there), and these spirit things or entities from another parallel appear and try
to take the living with them. These things have bodies like smoke and move in quick jerky movements, I think these are also the people who were taken away through the film (though I am maybe making that up) LOL

any ideas, ring any bells?

I think I enjoyed it at the time, I do love an apocalyptic movie
