Young kid gets 'abducted' by an alien robot research spaceship and has a little adventure. When the robot drops him back home 10 Earth years have passed but he's still little. NASA get involved and they run their usual 'tests' Then he escapes.
At some point during the movie the boys mind gets intertwined with the robot and it becomes goofy and human like instead of emotionless. Wicked movie. i just picked it up for a fiver on DVD from play.com

I love this film. The boy gets a little alien from the spaceships collection as a pet, the alien cant go home as his planet has been destroyed. Didnt Sarah Jessica Parker play the part of the assistant when they boy is being held by Nasa at the beginning, she helps him escape. Am delighted to hear you can get it on DVD..off to play.com now...
