60s Sci-fi Enigma

anybody remember an obscure 60s sci-fi type programme with opening credits that contained shots of radio telescopes and an outstretched hand in the rain? May have been called The stranger,or The Visitor! It wasn`t Quatermass!PLEEEEZE PUT ME OUT OF MY MISERY!!!!!!
