I think it was repeated on ITV or C4 in the 1990s.
It was always one of those foreign imports which were shown on school holiday mornings - stripped at the same time each weekday morning; rubbing shoulders with repeats of Why Don't You? and Jackanory; Cheggers Goes Pop and something with horses or gymnastics in it.

Some ITV regions had it in 1990 - Central had it on Fridays (and later Mondays) at 5.10 pm, while Yorkshire had it on Saturday lunchtimes.

It's great that Rewind TV has been showing it at the moment.

I know that some episodes were shown (and repeated) in 1990 - in the Central region they were shown after Children's ITV at 5.10 pm on Fridays, later moving to Mondays. I know that on Good Friday that year (Friday the 13th!) it was on after a showing of the Disney's Dumbo film. Around the time when Batman was seen in the same slot on Mondays, and Blockbusters was seen on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

I found a nostalgia channel called Rewind yesterday and had a huge wave of nostalgia when I saw they were showing Huckleberry Finn and his Friends. It might sound a bit sappy, but when that music started playing I welled up a little! I hadn't heard it for 35 years and it took me right back to childhood.

i think the reason they fancied tom is he was a bad boy.
he sure could handle himself as we see in the show.
i remember a fight he had with a fella bigger and taller than tom on a small woode a bridge.

tom and huck where complete opposites.

tom was always p;aying pranks and getting in fights.
    huck was more sensible.

I remember it in the timeslot left by Grangehill or maybe a slot before newsround?? - standout moments were the bible tickets scam, the loose tooth and the cotton to tie up the top collar to show he hadnt been bunking from school...i also really enjoyed the runaway few episodes where they returned for their own funerals..

You can buy the boxset (well 4 dvds anyway) from all good retailers too.

This was when I watched it and I loved it, except for a while I thought Tom Sawyer was Huckleberry Finn as the show was mostly about TS. Durr. I also thought the kids in it were quite old but looking at it now they look soooo young lol.
