"On The Road" documentary about band trying to make it???

Anyone know about a documentary about a musical group trying to make it big???, it was shot in black & white sometime in the 70's, and it began with an old transit van going from house to house picking up the band members. Also I think it may have inspired the "Comic Strip" to make "Bad News".

would it be "Scene: It's Only Rock and Roll" ? It was part of 2 short BBC documentaries about 2 bands in the 70's, one was The Sweet the other was a band called Renia. Basically it contrasted the success Sweet had with a band, Renia, who didn't make it.
