80s US Show about a magician

Hello.

Does anyone remember a US series shown in the early 80s. All I can recall is that it involved a retired magician and a younger guy. I think they solved crimes or something like that. It's just one of those vague memories.

Don`t remember this series but it sounds similar to The Magician with Bill Bixby.

Coincidentally it was directed by Bill Bixby who starred in The Magician.
