Do I remember this or did I imagine it ... ?

I have two memories of TV programmes back in the mid 1970's.

The first one included a young boy who was a ghost. I remember him wearing clothes much like a victorian chimney-sweep (but clean!) but the main detail was that he could disappear just by tugging on his necktie.

The second was again a young boy and girl who lived in a large mansion. They could see ghosts around the grounds including the ghosts of another boy and girl their age who died in a fire. I think this was a TV film because I remember seeing the same story twice.

Does anyone else recognise these memories or did I dream them 30 years ago and they never happened?!

I think the second one is The Amazing Mr Blunden by Lionel jeoffries, also has lawrence naismith in it. - lionel also did the railway children, you should re watch it its a classic...also has diana dors in it..

I'm stuck on this one programme which is a very early TV memory for me: a BBC children's TV drama, early 1970s - it would have been scheduled after Newsround perhaps, if Newsround was going by then. It was (as far as I remember) a sort of apocalyptic scenario along the lines of "Day of the Triffids". Everyone (adults only?) had suddenly turned against all things mechanised and started smashing stuff up, even things like bicycles, and there was a complete breakdown of society. This was all caused by a weird glowing rock sending out some kind of mind altering waves - which was eventually discovered by the heroine (?) of the story - possibly - and I don't know whether the mysterious force was overcome or not. It was all a bit unfathomable and unsettling. Can anyone else remember it? And does anyone know what it's called? Thank you!

Wow, yes that's it! Genius! Thank you. Can't wait to tell my sister. And to my now eternal regret, I've never subscribed to UK Gold! (But gives me hope that a DVD might surface one day!)

its probably on youtube, not the same as watching it on tv but if its the only way you are going to see it...its worth it.
