Does anyone remember the Moviedrome series of movies that Alex Cox used to present on Sunday nights on BBC2 ?

Some amazing movies were shown for the first ever time on British TV.

Sad to say I remember all of these. Credo brought back another awful memory for me ... "Rock Gospel" a dreadful religious quiz show hosted by Keith Macklin ..... the sole purpose of which seemed to be to show you how trendy and "with it" christians can be. It failed badly.

Return of the Saint was Saturdays in Granada. I never watched it, but remember the theme wafting through as I pored over the latest MCFC programme from the match I'd just been to at Maine Road. 'Joe Corrigan wanted to meet Mao Tse Tung? Really?!'

Shoestring I mentioned on the other thread. Have seen the eps on DVD and it's a great show. Trevor Eve has talked about reprising the character for a one off, I'd love that to happen. The radio station was just incidental, the programme was really about him and his way of looking at things. So as long as they've thought of a good back story to cover 30-odd years, a 2 hour drama could work. Get him out of retirement to solve a mystery, maybe Erica has a problem, thinks of Eddie and looks him up decades after she last saw him. I wish I was a good writer, I'd *so* do this and send it to Trevor Eve...

Cable channel "Drama" is quite good for old Sunday night TV. It's currently showing the likes of Bergerac, Tenko etc. Worth a quick look if you receive that channel.

The Terminator was first shown as part of the Moviedrome series.

I used to absolutely hate Sunday nights. Firstly because it was bath night and secondly, there being only 3 TV channels, there was that awful period around 6 o'clock where the only programmes on were religious ones and Ski Sunday !! That and the sound of church bells droning on for hours made it my least fave evening of the week.

Same here.Loved Friday night and hated Sunday.When I hear Black Beauty theme song it reminds me of getting a bath(did we really only have one bath a week in the 70s!!).

some great shows on sunday night though actually like ski sunday.
