I think it was tv but don't rule out movie either.
All I remember was it was that story was in a high school and the jocks for their own amusement decided to ask the ugly duckling girl out on a date (maybe to the prom?). I can't remember much about the girl but that she was pretty overweight.
During the prom the jock takes the girl into a private room and starts making his move. She thinks they were going to get it on. She strips off to her underwear but then the doors open and the entire group of the jocks friends are in there looking at her and laughing.
She was embarressed was pulling at a locked door trying to get out of the room and was crying while everyone was laughing at her.
Yeah I know it's probably a fairly generic high school storyline but that's all I remember. Definitely an 80s show anyway.
Plus for whatever reason I think it was a tv series and these people I describe weren't the main characters of the show (eg maybe the main character had to make the situation right and help the girl out etc).
