  • British comedy set on an island...does anyone remember?

This has been bugging me for years, not much to go on!

In the mid to late 70s it was shown after Batman (the 60s series with Adam West) on a Friday night.

Michael Shavell-Martin was in it I think, the beginning credits was a sort of oompha like tune which showed a map of the island. One scene that sticks in my mind was one where one of the characters was carrying a barrel of gun powder and leaving the 'comedy' trail of it behind them that someone then lights. I think there was a sort of old sea dog like character that wore either a beanie hat like compo or a sou'wester type hat.

Big respect to anyone who gets it, noone else has managed to help me yet!

Its not the one with William Franklyn and it isn't Gilligan's Island (which is US) its defo British.

    Anyone?

If it had Michael Sharvell -Martin - are you sure this wasn't some regular element of Dave Allen At Large?

Its a strong possibility but I can't find anything else on it to confirm, it seems pretty obscure. Its the best lead I've had since I've been trying to track it down so many thanks for that

After all these years of trying to remember, I finally found it!

            Rogue's Rock

Can't find anything else other than the description and a low quality audio theme on You Tube!

It hit me when watching 'One Foot in the Grave', the episode with Harold Goodwin as the window cleaner...he was the beanie hat wearing chap in it!

And why the hell I didn't remember Donald Hewlett as the main character is beyond me!

Royston Tickner was who I mistook for Michael Sharvell-Martin!

                did a check for you.D.Q

It ran from 74 and 76.

                there where 3 series.

and yes there is a bad quality audio of it on youtube.

not much on the web about it.

                must be quite obscure.

how long had u been trying to remember it.

Watched it! Really brings back some memories...it was produced by Southern Television too, with more than a few references to Southampton (where I was born n bred)! Would love to know where it was filmed...Brownsea Island maybe!?!
