anyone remember him telling weird story's (not georges marvelous medicine this was later) on was about 3 doctors who took out their own organs as a bet, another was a weird version of rumplestiltskin and i dont recall the others but they were all done in different styles, animation, puppets, etc. i used to love it /sigh am i going mad?

You're not mad, it was called "Grim Tales". They used to take traditional kids stories and give them a somewhat macabre twist.

Don't remember Grim Tales but I do remember him doing Roald Dahl's George's Marvellous Medicine on Jackanory. Was never a big fan of Jackanory but loved this one.

Jackanory was/is way kool, I think they should re-run them on UK Gold or such like, the Story Teller was great too, John Hurt, and Jim Henson's Creature workshop, kool.
