Hi all...

for years I was terrified by the Witch in a Jackanory (remember that?) teatime Kids story called 'Lizzy Dripping' (honest, although it sounds like a
bad pornstar name!!)..I cant remember much of it as I was about 5 but I do remember the Witch used to appear from behind a grave to a wee lassie with Pigtails in a Cemetary? Can anayone else remember this show? Would love to see it again....maybe its lost in the annals of time....lol..

Lizzie Dripping

One of the Blue Peter presenters Tina Heath played Lizzie and she had a witch for a friend who lived in the local graveyard and only Lizzie could see her! She had a younger brother and her classmates used to sing
'Lizzie Dripping Lizzie Dripping dont look now your fibs are slipping!' cos they thought she was telling lies cos only she could see the witch when they couldn't.

hi there, i loved lizzie, when i've mentioned it to friends in the past,they've looked at me blankly!! Mind you, the witch use to scare me!

Loved this show, there was a video of 3 episode out in the early 90's but no dvd.
I've got the three episodes now onto dvd, and i meet Tina last week.

I have the book. Sonia Dresdel was the witch, Tina Heath (as mentioned above) was Lizzie, Barbara Mitchell was Patty Arbuckle and Geoffrey Matthews was Albert Arbuckle. It was filmed on location in Nottinghamshire although I believe the seaside scenes were at Mablethorpe in Lincolnshire.

Love Lizzie Dripping, its a series that is long over due for a dvd release.

Tina Heath was about 18 when she played Lizzie in the series. I've been to village where the series was filmed and seen most of the locations there, it was filmed in a place called Eakring which is in Nottinghamshire. Helen Cresswell who wrote Lizzie Dripping and many other children's books also lived at Eakring and I met her on a few occasions, she was a wonderful person. I also met Tina Heath briefly who was also very nice. Where did you meet Tina Heath 'Tiswas77'? Its always worth looking out for the 2 tape audio book of Lizzie Dripping which is read by Tina.

I got Tina to sign my Lizzy Dripping by the sea, and yes it was filmed in Mablethorpe sometime in the first two week of June.

3) Lizzie Dripping by the Sea

This compilation of three episodes of Lizzie Dripping/Penelope Arbuckle portrayed by Tina Heath before she joined Blue Peter

I'm sure Tina Heath would rather not be reminded of this programme she starred in lol Just like Aled Jones just hates to be reminded of the Snowman song he sang lol

That takes me back. It was a pretty good series. I had forgotten it was Tina Heath playing the title character.

Sometime ago I chatting to a work colleague about a TV series I use to watch in the early 70s about a girl who meets a witch, which I think only she is able to see, unless I am mistaken. He could not recall the show and I could not remember the name of the programme.
Now I know the title.
Good children's series.

An official Lizzie Dripping DVD is set to be released in early October. Not sure of the exact details but 9 episodes (series 1 & 2) will be on the DVD.
