As I remember it was test card with local music (Tyne Tees) for an hour os so then either Bagpuss or fingerbobs till 9am then Swap shop (Tiswas on ITV came much later)

For me, it was 'Swap Shop', then when that ended, I fluctuated between 'Saturday Superstore', and 'Number 73'.

I used to watch the Saturday morning shows just to see the public information films. For some reason my ITV region Border couldn't sell advertising space on a Saturday morning so they used to show PIFs in all the ad breaks. I once borrowed a VHS of TISWAS from a friend and the ad breaks from that region were all toy ads so it wasn't something that happened across the whole country but I think it happened in other regions too.
