80s/90s tv drama (mini series)

I'm trying to remember the name of I think an 80s (might be early 90s)Uk tv drama (mini series)..a couple are separated and the ex wife is desperate to get back with the estranged husband (tall dark haired actor) who is now living with another woman, whose daughter (ginger haired?) gets pregnant (from an affair with a family friend I think?) and she arranges an abortion in secret ...the daughter then goes off to university. The estranged husband finds out about the abortion, leaves the mother of the daughter who got pregnant and ends up with his original wife who says something like ''i knew you would come back eventually'' ..I can remember lots of details just not for the life of me the name of the drama ! It drew comparisons to bouquet of barbed wire when it came out as well if I remember correctly.
