trying to remember an old 80s show

i remember an old TV show when i was a kid, possibly around 1985/1986

all i remember about it is it was an American show and it was about a kid that was friends with a sheriff, and the there was something about the sheriff, i'm not sure if he was a robot or something, but i remember he could either walk through walls or see through walls, or something like that.

that's all i remember, when i was little i always knew the show simply as 'The Sheriff' but i can't find anything by that name on the net.

Could it be Best Of The West?

I don't remember anything about seeing through walls, but definitely sheriff & kid. The kid was his son, or possibly stepson. He had a new-found bride, and I think the kid was hers, but I'm not sure about that.

nah definitely not, it didn't have a wild west theme, more like a modern day (1980s) Texas.
