Help remembering old TV Drama.

I've been pretty good at rediscovering old TV progs I used to watch but there is one series thats so far eluded me.
The main thing I remember is that it is set in 18th early 19th Century and features a boy who I think is a naval cadet, maybe.
One episode that springs to mind has an experimental rocket that has built by an old eccentric professor character that launches and then explodes.
I think the series is from the mid to late 70's. The name Dominic might be in there somewhere. Thanks for any help.

I don't remember much about it but there was a drama called Boy Dominic which aired on tv in about 1974.There was also a spin off just called Dominic a bit later.

Thanks Batty......I think the one I may be thinking of is Dominic.
I've found the Boy Dominic on youtube b4 but didnt realise they did a later series, so I thought it was something else.
Oh well I got there in the end. Shame that I cant find any episodes online.
